Our Story

It all started in the 1870's, in an area of Dublin, Ireland known as the Liberties. My Great Grandfather, James Matthews was a shoemaker both working and living in the Liberties, one of the oldest parts of Dublin. Records show that he was a shoemaker until his death in 1911.

Almost 150 years have passed, and although being born in the Liberties I now live in Cardiff, Wales and I too make leather goods.
I have launched YARNHIDE starting with a selection of high quality belts, using the very best English bridle leathers and British made buckles. Every belt is hand crafted using traditional methods and hand tools resulting in heritage standard timeless accessories built to last and made to fit.

Stay tuned for upcoming collections including Bags, wallets, Dog collars & leads and watch straps, all using the very best of materials and all custom made by hand.
